Duration:   2  mins

Description

Here, Joggle joints are explored and demonstrated. This is a relatively simple yet effective way to join two panels.

Starting off with a simple lap joint a lap joint is where one piece of metal sits on top of another. Now, if you can get access properly you can use a thing called a joggler, which is this thing here. Basically you put it on like that, give it a squeeze and go all the way down, and earlier I prepared the other side to speed things along a bit. If you can see there's a bit of a recess there which that sits onto like that, and those two pieces will then go together very neatly, like that. So I'll give them both a good clean, just to get rid of the oil that might be on the surface there and then sit it together like that.

Take all that. We'll use these pliers just to trim the end of the wire off. Before you start big welding you don't wanna have too much wire poking out the end, just want to have a tiny little stub like that. That will do. Ready to tack it, make sure there some gas coming out.

That's it, okay. I'mma go so, mind your eyes everyone. A strong tack. Another one here in the middle. And keep tacking as we go along.

I'll probably put a couple in the middle there so you've got a tack every inch or so. And that's nice and solid now. You can see how that laps over and shoe laps, not world style. If you can't get your joggler in, just lapping one piece over another will be adequate, but I do suggest if you can get the opportunity to weld on both sides, then you should do so.
